About 20 years ago my best friend suggested that we drive to Rehoboth Beach to spend the day swimming and sun bathing. Little did I know at that time that it would become our annual summer pilgrimage. From the first moment we drove into town and I gazed at the beach, I began a love affair with the seaside town. I enjoyed the pristine beaches, strolling through the shops and boutiques downtown as well as the variety of restaurants where delicious food and great service are hallmarks. There was an ambiance, a small town feel to Rehoboth Beach. Everywhere I went I felt welcomed by the community. It was during my many visits that I decided that when I retired it would be here in Rehoboth Beach where I could become part of the seaside community.
After 36 years in the Maryland Public School System I retired. My wife Dorothy and I searched for a home in Rehoboth and found our dream home. We have resided here for the past 4 years with our rescued dog, Cinnamon. I have never regretted this decision. In fact I have discovered more reasons why Rehoboth Beach is a great place to relocate, retire or buy a vacation home. Besides the many tax benefits including low property taxes and a low cost of living, it is the diversity of the community that makes it so special. The shop owners and grocery cashiers know you by name and are always ready to assist you. If a store does not have a product that you need they do not hesitate to give you the name of a competitor who carries the product. In a way it reminds me of a scene in the movie, A Miracle on 34th Street, where a Macy’s employee acting as the store Santa Claus suggests that a Macy’s customer go to Gimbel's to get an item which is not available at Macy’s.
After pondering what I should do when I retired I felt that obtaining my license as a real estate agent was a perfect fit. By becoming a real estate agent I could use my skills, expertise and knowledge of real estate to serve the community by helping clients find their dream home. I want to share my community with clients so that they too can enjoy the laid back relaxed life style, the tax benefits and the multiplicity of activities available throughout the year. Rehoboth Beach has the Clear Space Theater Company which produces musicals and dramas throughout the calendar year. The town hosts an annual film festival, Sand Castle Competition and a well known Jazz Festival. A satellite branch of Wilmington University provides a plethora of free and low cost classes. There are restaurants which serve a variety of foods to satisfy any palette. You can shop at boutiques in town or at the outlets located on the Coastal Highway. Philadelphia, New York City, Wilmington and Annapolis are within your reach should you want to venture from the shore.
